Abstract

As a possible source of secondary active compounds that could result in the creation of novel
medications, tropical plants belonging to the Calophyllum genus (Calophyllaceae) are significant both
chemically and biologically. Since 1992, research on this species has increased as a result of the discovery
that Calanolide A, which is present in the leaves of Calophyllum inophyllum, has anti-HIV potential. The
most significant natural product for the possible creation of novel anti-HIV medications and
phytomedicines is this molecule. The most researched species of the Calophyllum genus are C.
